Billing & subscription tiers
Billing in BestDefense is per organization. Each organization has its own subscription, and the products — Vortex and Maelstrom — each have their own subscription and tiers. Managing billing requires a billing-management permission; see Allow-rules.
A tier determines which features your organization can use and how much capacity it has. Vortex’s primary tiers are Starter, Growth, and Enterprise. Higher tiers unlock more — for example AI pen-testing, higher scan intensities, scheduling, and more credits and capacity. Maelstrom has its own plans with its own features.
Upgrading or downgrading changes both what you can do and how much you can do. If a feature like AI pen-testing or scheduling isn’t visible, it’s usually because your current tier doesn’t include it — check the plan options in the app.
Credits
Section titled “Credits”Some actions consume credits. A typical example is generating an AI remediation pull request. Credits are part of your subscription and reset on renewal. When you run low, you’ll be limited until the next renewal or until you move to a tier with more credits.
Some resources have caps — limits on how many of something your plan allows. Examples include the number of targets, repository connections, and team members. Unlike credits, caps aren’t consumed and reset; they’re a ceiling. When you hit a cap, you’ll need to free up room or upgrade.
Managing your subscription
Section titled “Managing your subscription”From the app’s subscriptions and billing pages you can:
